Gone are the days when white and gray were the default choices for neutral home decor. Today, the interior design world is gravitating toward warm, earthy tones that evoke comfort, depth, and timeless elegance. By opting for a neutral palette with subtle brown tones, you can add character and a sophisticated backdrop to your space, complementing a variety of styles. At Everhem, we’ve curated a collection of luxurious fabrics and below we have featured a few of our favorites: Sand Essentials, Fawn Essentials, Pebble Sheers, Umber Hues, and Cognac Hues.

The rich light brown tones bring out the natural beauty of wood furniture and complement a variety of color schemes, from light neutrals to deep jewel tones.
Neutral tones don’t have to be heavy or opaque—Pebble Sheers offer a lighter, airier option that still embraces the warmth of earthy neutrals. These sheer fabrics softly filter sunlight, creating a delicate, ambient glow that adds serenity and calm to any room.
Pebble Sheers are perfect for layering with more substantial fabrics like Fawn Essentials or Umber Hues. This layering allows you to control the light in your space, adjusting the level of privacy and brightness as needed. The sheers maintain a sense of openness while adding a touch of softness to your windows These lightweight sheers are ideal for living spaces where you want to preserve natural light while still introducing texture and warmth. Whether used on their own or as part of a layered window treatment, Pebble Sheers add a touch of understated elegance to your home.

This deep, earthy brown exudes warmth and sophistication, making it a standout choice for window treatments that are both functional and stylish. The rich color of Umber Hues pairs beautifully with neutral tones, providing contrast and depth to your overall design.
Use Umber Hues in rooms where you want to create a cozy, intimate atmosphere, such as bedrooms, reading nooks, or dining areas. Its bold tone works particularly well with deep wood finishes and metallic accents like bronze or copper. Incorporating Umber Hues into your space adds a sense of drama and luxury, making it a key feature in any room’s design. When paired with softer, lighter tones like Pebble Sheers or Sand Essentials, Umber Hues adds a layer of richness that elevates your entire space.

This technique works particularly well during the fall season when natural light can shift dramatically.
For a snug, enveloping feel, layer your window treatments with rich, textured fabrics that complement your drapery. Candles provide that much-needed glow as the days get shorter, and placing them strategically near your windows can enhance the glow filtering through your drapery. Opt for candles with warm, earthy scents like cedar, pumpkin spice, or sandalwood to fully embrace the spirit of the season.
In addition to candles, incorporating dried foliage into your decor is an easy way to add a touch of autumnal beauty to your living room. Display dried leaves, pampas grass, or wheat stalks in a decorative vase near your windows for an organic, seasonal vibe. The earthy tones of the foliage will complement the neutral colors of Everhem’s drapery, creating a well-rounded and balanced autumn aesthetic.

When it comes to kitchen design, it’s the little details that can make a big difference. Coordinating the hardware finishes in your kitchen can be confusing but we are hear to help break down the nuances of window treatment hardware and your kitchen hardware. At Everhem, we’ve partnered with Plank Hardware to help you achieve a seamless, stylish kitchen refresh that blends practicality with timeless design. By pairing our elegant cafe curtains with Plank Hardware's premium hardware, you can transform your kitchen into a stunning and cohesive environment.
Cafe curtains are an ideal solution for kitchens, offering both style and functionality. They provide privacy while still allowing natural light to flood your space.
Our cafe curtain hardware comes in several beautiful finishes, including Black, Brass, and Bronze. The rods are made custom based on your window’s dimensions, ensuring a perfect fit. The streamlined look of Everhem’s hardware is sleek yet understated, offering a modern twist on classic designs. This minimalist style pairs well with both contemporary and traditional kitchen interiors, making it an ideal choice to achieve a polished look.
Each finish brings something unique to the table, whether it's the matte sophistication of Black, the timeless shine of Brass, or the warm, aged feel of Bronze. These finishes can be perfectly paired with Plank Hardware to complete your kitchen refresh.
Coordinating your window treatments with cabinet hardware may sound tricky, but it doesn’t have to be. By choosing finishes that either complement or contrast tastefully, you can create a cohesive, well-designed space. Let’s explore some of the most stylish combinations using Everhem’s cafe curtain hardware and Plank’s cabinet hardware options.
For a modern kitchen refresh, consider pairing Everhem’s black curtain hardware with Plank Hardware's brass cabinet hardware. This combination is perfect for creating contrast while maintaining a sleek and modern aesthetic. The matte black rods exude elegance, while the brass hardware adds a pop of warm metallic tones, balancing out the boldness of the black.
Tom Revill, Co-founder and Creative Director of Plank Hardware, suggests that pairing black hardware with brass accents is a great way to achieve a “relaxed, modern feel.” This combination works particularly well in kitchens with neutral color schemes, where the contrasting finishes can shine without overwhelming the space.
For those who love a more traditional or vintage look, pairing Everhem’s brass curtain hardware with Plank’s aged brass cabinet hardware is a perfect match. The warmth of Everhem’s brass finish complements the tumbled, organic look of Plank’s aged brass, creating a timeless and cohesive kitchen design.
According to Revill, Aged Brass offers more “visual texture” than other finishes and is perfect for kitchens embracing the Cottagecore trend. With Shaker-style cabinets, butler sinks, and cafe curtains, this combination feels lived-in, effortless, and elegant.
If you’re going for a vintage-inspired kitchen, this pairing creates a consistent yet subtle connection between your window treatments and cabinetry. It’s an excellent choice for those looking for warmth and texture in their kitchen’s design.
If you prefer a more muted, sophisticated look, Everhem’s bronze curtain hardware pairs beautifully with Plank Hardware's antique brass cabinet hardware. Bronze has a rich, deep hue that complements the vintage charm of antique brass, making this combination ideal for traditional kitchens.
As Revill points out, antique brass is perfect for those who want a more “discreet” look, with hardware that blends seamlessly into a traditional or classic kitchen design. The pairing of bronze and antique brass creates a warm, cohesive aesthetic that’s both elegant and understated.
This combination is perfect for homeowners who prefer a coordinated look that feels timeless and curated. Together, these finishes bring out the best in each other, elevating the entire kitchen space.
When it comes to pairing hardware with window treatments, Revill offers some expert advice. While it’s tempting to match finishes exactly, he suggests that contrast can be just as impactful. “We’re firm believers that homeowners needn’t obsess over matching hardware throughout living spaces,” Revill says. “Leaning into contrast, in place of complementing, can create equally impressive impact.”
This philosophy encourages creativity in kitchen design. Don’t be afraid to mix black curtain hardware with brass cabinet pulls, or to blend bronze with antique brass. These combinations can add layers of visual interest to your space, making your kitchen feel more dynamic and thoughtfully designed.
To celebrate the art of pairing beautiful window treatments and cabinet hardware, Everhem is thrilled to announce a special Kitchen Refresh Giveaway with Plank Hardware. As the seasons change and the weather cools, there's nothing quite like transforming your home into a warm, inviting retreat. At Everhem, we know that window treatments play a key role in achieving that cozy, comforting atmosphere. While window coverings are often seen as practical, they can also be a focal point in your interior design, contributing to the overall warmth and style of your home. Here are some cozy design tips that will help you use our window treatments to elevate your space this season.
One of the most effective ways to create a warm and cozy space is by layering your window treatments. This approach combines different fabrics and textures to add depth, softness, and versatility to your windows. Layering involves pairing either drapery panels with sheers or drapery with shades. . The beauty of this technique is that it allows you to control the light throughout the day while enhancing the room's overall aesthetic.
For instance, you can use light, airy sheers during the day to allow soft, filtered sunlight into your room while maintaining privacy. Then, as the evening sets in, heavier drapes or shades can be drawn to block out light, insulate the space, and create a more intimate setting. Layered window treatments also add texture to your decor, making your windows stand out as a focal point.
Incorporating darker, moodier colors into your home can create a cozy, intimate atmosphere that feels both luxurious and inviting. Deep greens, rich browns, and other dark tones add sophistication and depth to any room, making them perfect for fall and winter decor.
In my own home, I’ve painted five rooms in moody hues and paired them with complementary drapery and shades. This creates a seamless, cohesive design where the window treatments are not just an afterthought but are integrated into the room’s overall aesthetic.
When choosing window treatments for a room with dark walls, consider selecting fabrics in a complementary or contrasting tone. For example, a rich green wall could be beautifully paired with deep neutral shades or drapery in soft ivory or bone to create balance. This combination makes the space feel layered and cozy without being overwhelming. Don’t be afraid to use darker tones for a bolder, more inviting design.
While black and brass have long been popular finishes for hardware, bronze is emerging as the next big trend in home design. Its rich brown hue introduces a deeper, warmer tone, perfect for autumn and winter decor. Bronze hardware exudes a timeless elegance while adding a cozy, inviting quality to your window treatments.
At Everhem, we offer stunning bronze hardware options that pair beautifully with our drapery and cafe curtains. It complements moodier color palettes while standing out as a statement piece in lighter, more neutral spaces. This subtle touch of warmth is perfect for elevating your home's coziness and adding a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe to your decor.

Sarah Sherman Samuel’s transformation of her Tudor-style home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a masterclass in blending traditional architecture with modern design elements. Known for her refined yet playful aesthetic, Samuel utilized color, pattern, and custom window treatments from Everhem to create a home that feels both elegant and inviting. Her work on this project exemplifies how thoughtful design choices, particularly with fabric choice can transform a space.
Samuel’s renovation of the Tudor was rooted in her desire to honor the home’s history while infusing it with her own modern sensibilities. "I fell in love with its character and charm. You don’t find craftsmanship like this anymore," she shared in her blog SSS Edit . The original architectural details of the home were preserved, while color and pattern were introduced to give the space a fresh, contemporary vibe.
Sarah Sherman Samuel’s Clover Tudor home is a showcase of her distinctive style, blending bold design choices with traditional Tudor architecture. Samuel, known for her modern, eclectic designs, has a knack for turning classic homes into contemporary works of art, while still maintaining their historic charm. The Clover Tudor transformation stands out for its use of intricate patterns, and thoughtful textures. From the bold wallpaper to the custom window treatments - every detail in this home speaks to Samuel’s creative vision.
In the Clover Tudor, window treatments are far more than just functional elements—they’re key contributors to the home’s overall aesthetic. Samuel chose Everhem’s custom window treatments to soften the dramatic interplay between color and pattern, offering the perfect balance of light and texture.
In various rooms, Samuel incorporated Everhem’s Drapery and Roman Shades to create a cohesive flow. The tailored nature of the window treatments allowed her to maintain clean lines and control natural light, making the rooms feel more intimate and inviting.
The use of Everhem’s Roman Shades adds a layer of sophistication while ensuring the room remains cohesive. In another room, Samuel opted for floor-to-ceiling drapery, which helped elongate the space and create a sense of grandeur. The fabric’s soft, natural texture complemented the room offering a sense of warmth and coziness that invites relaxation.
One of the standout features of Everhem’s window treatments is their customizability, which was essential in bringing Samuel’s vision to life in the Tudor home. Samuel’s ability to personalize each room meant that she needed window treatments that could adapt to her specific design choices.
From the size of the windows to the color and fabric of the treatments, every detail was customized to suit the space. The result is a seamless integration of window treatments that enhance, rather than compete with, the other design elements.
Everhem’s Drapery and Roman Shades serve not only as decorative accents but also as practical solutions for light control and privacy. Samuel carefully selected fabrics that would allow natural light to filter through, creating a warm, welcoming ambiance, while also offering privacy when needed.
The texture of Everhem’s materials further elevates the design, adding depth to each room. Whether it’s the soft folds of the drapery or the tailored finish of the Roman shades, the texture adds a tactile dimension that complements the home’s intricate patterns and bold colors.
Sarah Sherman Samuel’s Clover Tudor home is a perfect example of how color, pattern, and texture can work together to create a cohesive, inviting space. With the help of Everhem’s custom window treatments, Samuel was able to achieve the perfect balance, allowing her bold design choices to shine without overpowering the space.

When it comes to window treatments, every detail matters. From the fabric you choose to the way your shades operate, each element plays a role in defining the overall aesthetic and functionality of your space. One often overlooked but crucial component of window treatments is the valance. We understand the importance of this decorative accessory and how it can transform your window treatments from simple to sophisticated.
A valance is a decorative piece of fabric or woven material designed to cover the headrail and operating mechanisms of the shades. It serves both functional and aesthetic purposes, enhancing the overall look of your window treatments while also improving their performance. Valances are typically used with shades that have visible operating components, such as corded or chain-operated shades, but they can also be used with cordless or motorized shades for a clean, streamlined appearance.
The primary role of a valance is to conceal the functional components of your window treatments, such as the headrail, cords, or chain loops, giving your windows a polished and finished look. However, the benefits of a valance go beyond aesthetics.
Enhanced Visual Appeal: A valance covers the headrail and other hardware, ensuring that only the beautiful fabric of your shades is visible. This creates a seamless and cohesive look, making your window treatments appear more elegant and professionally designed.
Improved Functionality: For outside mount shades, a valance helps the shade sit closer to the window, reducing light gaps and improving room darkening. This is especially important in bedrooms or media rooms where blackout functionality is a priority.
Convenient and Accessible: A valance allows for convenient access to the cord or chain loop by positioning it at the front of the shade, making it easier to open and close.
A valance is typically used in specific situations where it serves both a functional and aesthetic purpose. Here are some scenarios in which a valance is necessary or recommended:
Outside Mount Shades: For outside mount shades, a valance is often recommended to help the shade sit closer to the window. This reduces light gaps, improves room darkening, and creates a more tailored and finished look.
Chain Loop Mechanism: For shades with a chain loop mechanism, the chain loop is located at the front, underneath the valance. This arrangement ensures that both the functionality and aesthetic appeal are maintained, as the valance conceals the hardware while allowing easy access to the chain loop for operation.
Aesthetic Preference: Some homeowners simply prefer the look of a valance. Whether for its decorative appeal or the way it completes the overall design of the window treatment, choosing a valance is a matter of personal style and preference.
Our valances are designed to be 5 inches long, providing a consistent and stylish finish for your window treatments. This length is carefully chosen to cover the headrail and operating mechanisms without overwhelming the overall look of your shades. The result is a balanced and harmonious design that enhances the beauty of your windows without drawing attention away from the shades themselves.
In the world of design and architecture, collaboration often brings out the best in each creative mind. This was certainly the case in the partnership between Rob Diaz of Rob Diaz Design and Jessica Nicastro of Jessica Nicastro Design. Together, they have crafted a stunning home that seamlessly blends form, function, and beauty. The Casa Mallorca project stands as a testament to their shared vision and complementary design philosophies.
Rob Diaz, the founder of Rob Diaz Design, has a passion for creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful. His approach to design is deeply rooted in the relationship between the exterior and interior of a space, ensuring that every room not only stands alone but also contributes to the overall flow and feel of the home.
When asked about his favorite part of the design process, Diaz said, "There are many. But forming a shape, a sight line, and understanding how the spaces work together is something I’m always mindful of. The cohesive nature of the exterior working with the interior is crucial. Figuring out how a room or rooms have identity and nest you in is what I love most."
This thoughtful approach is evident in every project he undertakes. For Diaz, the choice between Roman Shades and Drapery depends on the specific needs of the space. "It depends on whether it’s a door or a window," he explains. "Doors are always drapes for me. If added layers are needed, then Romans and drapes." This practical yet aesthetic approach ensures that every element of the design serves a purpose while enhancing the overall look of the home.
The partnership between Rob Diaz and Jessica Nicastro began organically. They first worked together on a home in Silverlake, where Nicastro was hired to furnish a house that Diaz had built. Their mutual admiration for each other's work led to a strong professional relationship. "We kept in touch and always shared a design likeness for each other," Diaz recalls. "When Viewcrest was being developed, I wanted a talented team to help highlight and elevate my design with custom furniture and scale it correctly. Jessica is incredibly talented, and I feel she knocked it out of the park with Casa Mallorca."
This collaboration was more than just a business arrangement—it was a meeting of minds. Diaz’s architectural vision combined with Nicastro’s interior design expertise resulted in a home that is both functional and breathtakingly beautiful.
Jessica Nicastro is known for her ability to create spaces that enhance everyday living. Her design style is centered around the idea that a home should be as practical as it is beautiful. "I create spaces that are not only functional but also captivating," she explains. "Seamlessly blending form and function ensures that both beauty and practicality are achieved."
Nicastro has a particular appreciation for window treatments and their transformative power. "My favorite thing about window treatments is their ability to dramatically transform a space," she says. "They offer both aesthetic appeal and practical benefits, such as controlling natural light, enhancing privacy, and adding texture and depth to a space."
In the Casa Mallorca project, Nicastro found that the easiest design decision was selecting the color palette. The home’s architectural features, combined with Studio Rob Diaz's organic palette, made the choice straightforward. "The easiest design decision for this project was selecting the color palette, which beautifully complemented the home’s architectural features," Nicastro notes. However, the abundance of design possibilities also made it challenging. "The hardest part was narrowing down our options, as the wide range of design possibilities made it difficult to select only the very best elements for the space."
Casa Mallorca is more than just a house—it is a masterpiece that showcases what happens when two talented designers collaborate. Rob’s architectural prowess, combined with Jessica’s eye for interior detail, resulted in a home that is both cohesive and visually stunning. From the carefully chosen window treatments to the harmonious color palette, every element of Casa Mallorca was thoughtfully designed to create a space that feels both luxurious and lived-in.
As they continue to work together on future projects, one thing is certain: the partnership between Rob Diaz and Jessica Nicastro will continue to produce homes that are not only architectural marvels but also warm, inviting spaces that reflect the personalities of those who live in them. Casa Mallorca is just the beginning of what promises to be a long and successful collaboration between two of the most talented designers in the industry.
